4. And then comes Friday night
The annual White Party started at 8pm in the Ballroom. Since the dress code expressly calls for white, women in white clothing stretch as far as the eye can see. Well, that is except for the team of Silver Lake dykes - averse to wearing white, they make it a point to appear in all black.
From 9pm a cocktail party on the patio outside the hotel begins, hosted by the gay cable television station Logo. The party is peppered with a number of out and central figures in lesbian culture - many being interviewed by the gay press. They include Michelle Wolff from the horror program Dante's Cove broadcast on the gay-oriented station Here!, model and actress Jenny Shimizu, and writer/actor/producer Michelle Paradise known for her work on Logo's Exes and Ohs.

Just as the cocktail party is winding down, Leisha Hailey - better known as Alice from The L Word - is rocking the hotel over at the White Party with her band Uh Huh Her. Needless to say, fans are flocking the stage to catch an eyeful of the band's Dinah Shore debut.

Following the twelfth stroke of midnight, the party's runway got HOT as a fashion show for Peeler Wear took central stage. Bisexual and lesbian celebrities including Jane Lynch (lawyer Joyce on The L Word) became the night’s models and viciously strutted their stuff. Since none qualify as professional runway models (yet), everyone had fun playing the part with alternate bouts of dancing, laughing, and macho-bravado each keeping the audience in a giddy lilt. The show itself felt like home.

Events in West Hollywood and Los Angeles typically end by 2 AM - and this Dinah Shore festivity was no different. The girls who hadn't had quite enough fun yet continued on with their own private parties in hotel rooms, rented condominiums and Palm Springs homes.
