Now with the event in its second day, the pool party is showing a lot more life - as early as 9 am, its opening hours! Growing numbers of girls are staking their claims on lawn chairs and, by 2 pm, the parking lot is full.
Saturday's pool party was sponsored by the lesbian and gay network, Logo, and stars from its programs - including Exes and Ohs and Dante's Cove (now with Jenny Shimizu in the cast) are making their way through the venue.
Also, thanks to an unforgettable scene involving oil wrestling from an episode from Season 5 of The L Word, wrestling itself has gained a lot more attention at lesbian events. And Dinah Shore is no different. This year revelers indulged in a jelly wrestling event. Naturally, as American as peanut butter, a wet t-shirt contest was also in the mix (getting the crowds a little more excited than peanut butter would!).

On this Saturday, as was posted here in TW notes, producer/director for The L WordIlene Chaiken held a private press conference in a suite room of the Hotel Doral. Only about 10 media agencies, such as Velvet Park and Lesbian Night Live, were selected for entry to this very selective party. Rachel Shelley (Helena), Alexandra Hedison (Season 4's Dylan), and Elizabeth Keener (Dawn Denbo) also joined and warmly responded to interviews.

The organizer and producer of the Dina Shore Weekend also sat in on the conference and spoke to the press after The L Word stars left. "The lesbian scene in the US has picked up at an exceptional pace over the past few years. I hope that each of you is able to use your time at this party to make as many connections as possible with other lesbian artists and media workers." Now, THAT's the "power lesbian" spirit!
When the Dinah Shore event had first begun, apparently the hotel had shown a considerable degree of reluctance to becoming part of a lesbian event."Naturally, it was not always easy at the time. The hotel was initially not as cooperative as it is now; it had even offered its employees permission to not come to work during the event if they were opposed to the presence of lesbians for religious reasons. But now, they've really come to love us and they say they look forward to this event every year. They entertain any and all our requests! (laughs)"
