2. KM's Press Conference (2)

-Questions from the press-

--You have been playing the role of Shane for about six years now; how do you feel about the next season of The L Word being its last?

I think it's been a wonderful ride being on the show. All good things come to an end. I'm very proud to have been on a program with a group of women that I love and admire and respect. A part of me is sad to see it end, but another part of me is excited to see what lies ahead. So this is all bittersweet.

--I watched Season 3 and was very impressed by the care and concern your character Shane shows for her friends. Generally speaking, what aspects of your personality do you feel that you share with Shane?

I think our moral beliefs are very different. I like to think I'm a good friend. I like to think that I'm loyal. If there are any similarities, they would probably end there. We look a lot alike, so I think that’s a big one too.

--The L Word cast consists of many very attractive characters. Which characters on the program do you particularly like, and are there any roles other than Shane that you would like to try?

I love Alice. I love her sense of humor. And I have to say that Jenny is a very complex and interesting character. I think Mia has added some really beautiful layers that weren't necessarily there originally but she certainly discovered them. I don't know who I would want to play. I think Joyce Wischnia, played by Jane Lynch. But I think that’s because I want to be Jane Lynch (laughs).

--Have members of the cast been talking about the legalization of same-sex marriages in California - where the program is set? Also, I would like to ask your own opinion on that, if you don't mind.

I think it's wonderful that California is allowing marriages now. I haven't seen anyone from the show because we're on hiatus right now, but I'm sure that everyone is very, very happy and supportive of this law. Everyone is for equality in California.

--Shane is obviously seen as an especially appealing character. In what ways do you create and develop this character for the program?

First of all, thank you for the compliment! You know, after doing the show for so many years, I'm pretty much on auto-pilot at this point. But when we first started, this character was a huge combination of various inspirations. Anything from real people I know to cartoon characters. Early on, I used an assortment of very, very random ideas to create Shane. Yet, after a while, I let it go and just tried to discover the best I could for myself. It's hard for me to answer this because I've been doing this for so long that character development feels quite far to me now.
