Since its start in 1998, Sex and the City has won eight Golden Globe awards and countless zealous fans around the globe! The series reached its much lamented end in 2004 and now, in 2008, its highly anticipated debut on the big screen has come. Just as soon as the movie opened in theaters across America on May 30th, it hit number one in box office rankings reaffirming the passionate support of its devotees.
When it comes to Sex and the City, one thing is for sure and that is the integral role that queer persons have played in making it a success, both as artists in its creation and as dedicated fans. In fact, queer persons are not only directly involved in making Sex and the City, they are also represented within characters and story lines appearing in the program.
Now that the film has strutted its way into Japan, we are stepping up to fill you in on its queer connections. We are also going to bring you along with us to the Sex and the City Japan Premier event and exclusive After Party. Moreover, long-time stylist for the series and the film, out lesbian Patricia Field, has a video message just for TW readers!
