1. Feminine, with a rock taste
As introduced in TW notes at the end of last month, Charlotte Ronson brought her 2009 Spring/Summer Collection to Tokyo in a runway show on October 22nd. In fact, a storm of attention was raised by the fashion event with Charlotte's older twin sister, Samantha Ronson, and Samantha's girlfriend, Lindsay Lohan, both on hand.
New York's own up-and-coming young fashion designer, Charlotte Ronson, is a creative and vivacious tough girl of today. Her brand is soaring in popularity with American celebrities such as Nicole Richie, as well as stars straight from the limelight here in Japan visibly enraptured by Ronson's cute and highly feminine designs. The music for both the fashion show and the after party was managed by DJ Samantha Ronson, Charlotte's sister, also known for mixing in A-list events around the world. The twins are not only close, but they make collaborative magic.

First, the spring collection and runway show.
Charlotte's latest conceptual creation is linked to music, as was last year's 2008 Autumn collection inspired by Jane Birkin, the British actress & singer turned fashion icon. Influenced by her upbringing in a musical household, it is clear that for Charlotte music is an element that cannot be denied to fashion.
Charlotte has revealed that this season's look was inspired by her experiences attending rock concerts with her parents in the 80s and 90s. She selected fashion and music from the rock scenes of the era and infused them with the vibe of women's style today. Attendees were wowed by the bold look of high-waists, body-conscious silhouette styles from the 80s, asymmetric dresses, blouses done in romantic flowered motifs, and delicate chiffon creations. Also, she accented her subdued pale colors with daring displays of black - a color she rarely uses - giving much of the line a highly refined, chic look. This season's collection has grabbed the interest of fashion-focused girls here in Japan.

The musical mastermind behind Charlotte's last runway show in New York was her elder brother, three time Grammy winning musician-producer Mark Ronson. However, for the Tokyo show, Samantha took to the spin. In line with the event's retro theme, Samantha Ronson spun ingenious electro remixes of Michael Jackson and other 80s and early-90s tunes tailored perfectly to the look, the feel, and the story of the runway show.
