Hello Tokyo Wrestling readers!
This is Florence Bujard, a DJ and director based in Belgium and Switzerland.
I'm writing in to let you all know about some of our favorite queer spots here in Brussels, the capital city of Belgium - and one of the EU's political centers. The city has its own gay area in the heart of downtown, near the Grand Place - a UNESCO heritage site often called "one of the most beautiful town squares in the world." There are plenty of gay and lesbian bars, restaurants, and shops. And there is always something going on.
This week everyone rushed to Pink Screen, our LGTB film festival held at Cinema Nova.
So, to start off, I'd like to introduce two of the best bars and events available in our darling queer scene of Brussels!
First of all, there is Catclub, a super-fine establishment that has just celebrated its 6 year anniversary this past November. CatClub is an event for lesbian + gay + everyone! This open-minded party has got a lot of heart, and keeps the beat going with a mind-blowing line-up of choice DJs. The event organizer is none other than Belgium's own DJ sensation: Lady Jane.
※The founding power and organizer behind the queer party CatClub also happens to be one of Belgiums' most famous DJs, Lady Jane (left).
The party takes place in different locations each time. The one I attended, on October 18, was unbelievably special. It took place in a space formerly used for sorting mail at the Brussels-South station. It was also served as the official opening party for the Brussels Art Biennal 1. Everything about the party was great!!!
If you come to Brussels one day, be sure that you do not miss CatClub!!!
