Sachiko Takeuchi: Off the Record

Honey & Honey x Tokyo Wrestling March 2007

Sachiko Takeuchi

4. Falling for gay men

K:
I have a question for you, H. You're always tagging along with Takeuchi, right? Well, have you considering going for women? I'd like to know...you don’t look like so straight. (laughs)

T:
What a great question!

H:
Yeah, I think it's possible.

T:
Really? Wow...

H:
But, in my case, I think I'd sooner go for a gay guy.

T:
Hasn’t anybody told you? That's hopeless.

H:
Yeah, I've been told before. In Nichome once, a bar manager said to me, "Don't you know it's hopeless?" But, I mean, aren't gay guys popular with straight girls anyway?

K:
Yeah. I could see myself with a gay guy, maybe. I don't think I could get into a serious relationship, but there is something of an attraction. I mean, there's a lot of different guys out there, but I find gay men who are feminine, clean-cut and into fashion very sexy. Though I don't really know why. (laughs)

T:
I know what you mean. There's this one guy who came out to me at school...I could see myself with him - as long as there was no sex. (laughs)

K:
Yeah, if sex was not a part of the deal, I'd go for gay guys.

T:
Like just going out on dates...Sure.

H:
Who would you date first, a gay man or an FtM?

K:
An FtM.

T:
Me too.

K:
No surprise there, T! (laughs)
I'd go for a gay man if there were no women around.

T & H:
Oh.

T:
This is beginning to sound like, "Who would you bring if were stuck on a desert island?"

K:
But I think I'd probably get along better with a gay man as far as having conversations late into the night and going out on dates are concerned. What about you, H, would you be attracted to a transgender man?

H:
I think so. Regardless of how he appears on the surface, I think I'd fit well with an FtM as far as personality and sensibility are concerned.

K:
Have you ever gone out with women?

H:
No, never. Which is too bad.

T:
I had different editors for the first and second editions of "Honey & Honey". H has been with me since the second edition. When we met she already had gay friends and was even a regular at certain Nichome bars. She was already familiar with the gay scene (laughs).

H:
In "Honey & Honey Deluxe" there's one part that takes place in a gay bar, and she makes it seem like it's my first time, but actually I had always gone there a lot. The bartender even has a bottle with my name on it there (laughs).

KN:
All my friends are gay men. Recently I've been suffering from a broken heart, so one of my friends took me for a walk in the park the other day. He's such a sweetie.
