2. On screen with Bette and Tina

-- Who’s your favorite character on The L Word?

Let me see, I’d have to say there are two: Bette, played by Jennifer Beals, and I adore Shane, who is played by Kate Moennig.

-- What do you like most about them?

First of all, I just love Shane. I think she's a very quiet, honest girl. I think she's honest to a fault--she couldn’t lie to save her soul. Shane’s a very wise young woman and yet she doesn't trust herself. She doesn't think she's that good. I think she's afraid that she's really just a bad person but, the truth is, she's a fantastic, wise person and I really love that about her. I love her humility and the tinge of sadness that she carries with her.

Bette I like because she's really smart, almost too smart. It’s almost impossible for her to have a relationship, but she wants nothing more. It breaks my heart that she and Tina can't stay together. Honestly, I'm very invested in the show.

For example, when we were shooting the scene where Joyce is holding a conference with Bette and Tina, there is one part where Bette gets down on her knees and says, "Please, please come back to me!" That was so hard for me. I just wanted to burst into tears but, of course, Joyce didn't like it at all! She thought it was silly. So I had to intervene and say, "Get up! Get off your knees!" (laughs)

-- Wow! So that’s what it was like for you?! How ironic. I’d like to go back and see that scene again now! (laughs)
