Last year, Tokyo Wrestling began posting "Tokyo L Girls: Snapshots", our collaborative project with seasoned lesbian scene photographer, Miwa Tosaki. In this series, we’ve presented pictures of Tokyo's own cutest “L” girls out and about in Shinjuku's Nichome.

However, we are now proudly adding bois to the mix and renaming the project "Tokyo L Girls & Bois Snapshots". For those unfamiliar with it, "Boi" (a play on the word "boy") is a word commonly used in the American queer scene to refer to any girl who resembles or identifies as a boy. One similar term found in Japan’s own gay cultural history is “wonna” (ヲンナ; a play on the common word for woman, “onna”/ オンナ), which was used by feminine gay men in the '90s with a distinctly campy ring. (※ For more on bois, see our interview with Rigged/OUTfitters designer Parisa Parnian here.)

Also, we’ve added questions to the interviews to incorporate more topics for our girls and bois to comment on, including their own personal message to TW readers!
