6. An L Word crush
-- Do you have a favorite lesbian or gay movie?
I have a lot, but one in particular is "Milk". I hope a lot of people do go to see that film. Also, my favorite lesbian production is The L Word.
-- On your blog, you wrote that Lara from The L Word was your type. What is it that you like about her?
Lara is very sweet, and cute. And I adore how she’s so feminine and still goes for what she wants when it comes to love. Like how she walked up to kiss Dana in the locker room! (laughs)

-- Do you have any favorite scenes or storylines from The L Word?
Well, the kiss scene with Lara I just mentioned gets me every time (laughs), and I also liked Tina and Bette as a couple. I think it's awful that they broke up. I really enjoyed watching them together before things turned into such a mess.
-- If you could act in the program, who would you be?
Straight up, Bette! She’s hot!
-- Are there any lesbians that you admire?
Yes, there are several. For one, though I feel embarrassed to say it, I’d say you in a sense because a lot of what you said in your interview on NHK’s LGBT website “Niji-Iro” really resonated with me.
-- Thank you! Anyone else? (laughs)
Also, the prime minister of Iceland. She’s beautiful!
-- She's really very dignified, isn’t she? Are there any lesbian events in other countries you’d like to see?
The Dinah Shore Weekend!
-- Oh, I definitely recommend it. You should go with your girlfriend next year!!
I should! Oh, and there’s another foreign lesbian that I admire. Leisha Hailey, who plays Alice on The L Word.
-- What do you like about her?
The fact that she’s out and proud as she both plays her music and acts on The L Word. She lives life radiantly!
-- Although it’s not legal in Japan yet, same-sex couples can enter same-sex marriages or civil unions in several countries, such as France and England. Do you think you’d like to marry someday?
Yes.
-- If it wasn’t yet legal in Japan, would you marry in another country?
Ever since I was in high school, it’s been a dream of mine to have a wedding with both me and my partner in wedding dresses. The idea came to me as soon as I started liking my first crush. Of course, it would be ideal to marry in Japan if I could.
-- Recently, in some other countries, a growing number of lesbians are having children by artificial insemination. Would you like to have a child with your partner in the future?
At this point in time, I don’t want children that much. I suspect if we had a child, my partner would pay less attention to me. (laughs) But if my partner wanted children, then I’d like for us to consider it together and I’d work with her on the options.
-- Do you have any goals, dreams, or plans for the future that you’d like to share?
I’d like to keep working as I do--just following my heart and just trying to achieve a personally fulfilling life. I’d like to release a photobook that’s artistic with something that everybody would appreciate. I’m working on the manga Real Bian right now, and I’m hoping that, if it becomes popular enough, it will be made into a book of its own. I’d like to write a book someday. And I’d like to continue acting. There’s a lot that I want to do! (laughs)
