写真家のロバート・メイプルソープの写真集を「男性器のアップの写真などが含まれており、わいせつ物にあたる」として輸入禁止を国が99年に命じた。この国の判断を違法とし、写真集輸入禁止処分の取り消し訴訟を起こした原告（出版元UPLINKの社長・浅井隆氏）勝訴の判決が2月19日に最高裁でくだった。これを受けて、その写真集の展示会を開催。

国は、どの写真を猥褻としてこの写真集を輸入禁止にしようとしたのか、そして地裁、高裁、最高裁の判決はどのような論理だったのかを掲示する、原告の浅井隆によるトークショーも併せて催される。

In '99, Japan banned the import of a posthumous book of photography by openly gay artist Robert Mapplethorpe, for "obscenity" (it showed amongst others, close-ups of erect male genitalia). On 19 February, the Japanese publisher who wanted to import the book, the president of UPLINK (the distribution company which has released creative independent films such as Go Fish), finally won the case to overturn the ban. In commemoration of the decision, an exhibition of Mapplethorpe's photography will be held, followed by a presentation by the publisher on the banned photos and the legal process involved in having the photos released in Japan.

ジョン・レノンの最後の写真やデミ・ムーアの妊娠ヌードなどで知られるフォトグラファー、アニー・リーボヴィッツのドキュメンタリー映画『アニー・リーボヴィッツ レンズの向こうの人生』が2月16日より日本公開となる。

今日まで数々のメッセージ性とストーリー性の強い写真を発表し続けてきたアニー。その鬼才さと人柄から、彼女の撮影とならどんなに忙しいセレブリティも駆けつけるという。また、彼女はレズビアンであり、2004年に亡くなった評論家/小説家/映画監督のスーザン・ソンタグと恋人だったのは周知の事実。そんな彼女についての映画ドキュメンタリーを妹のバーバラ・リーボヴィッツが撮り、アナ・ウィンターやデミ・ムーアを含め多くの著名人が出演していることでも注目を集めた。
