今年10月25日（土）に、第3回青森インターナショナルLGBTフィルムフェスティバル特別企画 Part 3が開催予定。日本でもっとも長い歴史を持つLGBT支援組織であるアカーの講師から、団体紹介、活動内容、日本におけるLGBTの現状、HIVと同性愛について話が聞けるチャンス。行ける人は是非行ってみて！

On Saturday, October 25th in Aomori, there will be a special program for the Aomori International LGBT Film Festival. Guest speaker Masao Kashiwazaki will share information on OCCUR, Japan's longest-standing LGBT support NGO, as well as broach more specific topics such as the organization's activities, the situation of LGBTs in Japan today, and HIV. Not to be missed!

NPO法人アカー（OCCUR)

NPO法人アカー（OCCUR）は、同性愛者のおかれている困難な状況に変化をもたらすために、1986年3月、ゲイやレズビアンによって設立されたグループ。正式名称は、「動くゲイとレズビアンの会」で、英語のOCCUR（起こる、考えが浮かぶ）からきている。

設立から22年、全国に約350名の登録会員と、2,500名の登録支援者がおり、東京の事務所を中心に約50名がボランティアスタッフとして活動している。レズビアン／ゲイのための電話相談や、エイズ／STD情報ライン、法律相談などの各種専門相談を受け付けている。また、エイズの予防啓発イベントなどの社会サービス事業をはじめ、人権擁護や、調査研究、政策提言、国際協力などの各分野の事業も総合的に展開。

OCCUR was established in March 1986 by gay and lesbian people inspired to foment change in the difficult circumstances faced by same-sex loving people. Their official name is "Ugoku Gay to Lesbian no Kai (Gays and Lesbians in Action)", but they have gone by the name OCCUR owing to the English word's positive nuances of "change instilled" and "realizing new ideas".

22 years after its start, OCCUR now has 350 registered members across Japan, and over 2500 registered supporters. Its office in Tokyo hosts a volunteer staff of approximately 50 people. OCCUR provides information and specialized consultations on legal and a range of other issues, while also running an LGBT phone assistance line and an AIDS/STD information line. As seen in its work promoting AIDS prevention via events and other public services, the organization has also been expanding overall into a range of fields such as human rights protection, policy proposal, survey research, and international cooperation.
