『ヘドウィグ・アンド・アングリーインチ』は、1997年よりオフ・ブロードウェイで上演されたロングランヒット・ミュージカルで、世界中に熱狂的なファンを持つカルト作品。2001年には映画化され、日本でも2004年に舞台で上演された。

映画とオリジナル・ミュージカルの主演/監督/脚本家を務めるのは、ゲイとしてカミングアウトしているジョン・キャメロン・ミッチェル。2006年には世界中で大きな話題を集めた映画『ショートバス』も監督としてリリースし、クィア映画の巨匠ともいわれている彼。カルト的作品なので、観ていない方ももう観た方も是非足を運んでみては！

The epic musical "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" began off-broadway in 1997 and grew to become a long-running production with a broad cult following. Its success spurred the making of the 2001 film of the same name, and the theater production was brought to Japan in 2004.

Openly gay artist John Cameron Mitchell wrote, directed and starred in both the theater and film productions of the musical. In 2006, he released his second movie "Shortbus", which cemented his reputation as a master in queer film. If you haven't yet seen Mitchell's first cult masterpiece, this is a perfect chance!
