アジアのクィア映画、とりわけインディペンデント映画を発掘し上映する唯一の映画祭、AQFF（アジアンクィア映画祭）。2007年の第1回AQFFでは、世界中から探し出されたアジアのクィア映画の中から選りすぐりの29作品が上映され好評を博した。

そして隔年開催を目指すこのAQFFが、9月19日（土）から9月23日（水）に再び開催。日本、韓国、香港、シンガポール、タイ、インド、イスラエル、インドネシア、フィリピンなど、世界10カ国以上から集めたアジアのクィア映画30作品以上が上映される。前回同様、ほぼすべての作品が日本初公開となり、各国の映画祭で高い評価を獲得した新作長編作品から、クィアのインディーズ作家たちが手掛けた短編作品まで、バラエティに富んだ作品が集結した。

まさにアジアとクィアとインディーズ映画の融合から生み出された、AQFFでしか観られない貴重な作品の数々を堪能しに、是非劇場に行ってみて！

The Asian Queer Film Festival (AQFF) is Japan’s only film festival exclusively dedicated to uncovering and showcasing independent queer films from throughout Asia. Held for the first time in 2007, the festival was an instant hit, attracting diverse audiences with its remarkable mixed bag of 29 queer indie films.

This biennial event makes its 2009 comeback Saturday, September 19th through Wednesday, September 23rd, presenting over 30 films from 10 Asian countries and regions including Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, India, Israel, Indonesia, and the Philippines. It’s worth noting that the overwhelming majority of these films will be shown in Japan for the very first time! Nowhere else will you find such a rich representation of queer Asia on the big screen. AQFF is ready to wow crowds in 2009 with a program that runs the gamut from full-length features already making a splash on the film festival circuit to short indie films by up-and-coming queer writers and directors!

プログラム名【全13プログラム】

■『ママに花束を！』（「Manay po!」）
フィリピン映画界を代表する人気監督ジョエル・C・ラマンガンが愛と家族について描く、笑いあり、涙ありのドタバタコメディ。
■『あかね色のケープタウン』（「The World Unseen」）
1950年代の南アフリカ連邦におけるインド人社会を舞台に、人種・性別差別が当然とされる社会を生きる女性たちの愛、そして心の自立を描いたドラマ。
■『僕は小さく恋をする』（「Innocent」）
家族、愛、友だち。日常に巻き起こる小さなエピソードを丹念に描き重ね、人生の分岐点に立たされた17歳の少年、エリックの心の揺らぎを巧みに描いた傑作ドラマ。
■『無口な情熱 -SIKIL-』（「SIKIL」）
第21回東京国際映画祭の上映作品『まばたき』を手掛けたロナルド・バートゥビンの初長編作品。愛と友情の狭間で揺れ動く、幼なじみの青年二人の姿を描いた濃密ドラマ。
■『砂漠の少女たち -Seeds of Summer-』（「Seeds of Summer」）
イスラエル女性兵士養成コースで訓練を受ける少女たちの姿を追った長編ドキュメンタリー。あどけない少女たちの素の表情や笑い声、そこに重なる銃声や号令。観る者に様々な思いを喚起させる作品。
■『新鋭ゲイ作家プログラム』（「New and powerful gay directors」）
確かな実力でクィア映画の未来を担う、新世代のゲイ作家たちの短編を集めた作品集。
■『韓国プログラム』（「South Korea」）
インディーズ作家が躍進する韓国映画界からバラエティに富んだ短編を集めた作品集。
■『ガールズプログラム』 （「Girls」）
私はあなたの夢を見る…。惹き込まれるような美しい映像で、ワタシとアナタの物語を綴った作品集。
■『ボーイズプログラム』 （「Boys」）
触れ合う肌と、視線の誘惑…。絡まり合うボクらのデキゴトを描いた作品集。
■『ドキュメンタリープログラム』（「Documentary」）
マーメイドになりたい少年、イマドキの女子高生、謎の少数民族、モーケン…貴重すぎる映像が揃った作品集。
■『エクスペリメンタルプログラム』 （「Experimental」）
映像という表現手段を縦横無尽に操る作家たち。独特の世界観を持つ彼らの映像に酔いしれる作品集。
■『CG＆アニメーションプログラム』（「CG&Animation」）
タイからキュートなアニメーションと個性的なCG作品が登場。
