Renowned gender theorist and author Judith Halberstam will be giving a series of talks in Tokyo November 26-28. Halberstam is popularly known for her work on such books as "The Drag King Book", a collection of portraits and interviews covering London, San Francisco, and New York drag kings in the 1980s and 90s.

【Judith Halberstamプロフィール】

クィアスタディーズや、トランスジェンダー・スタディーズ、ジェンダー・スタディーズを代表する研究者のひとりで、南カリフォルニア大学（USC）教授。著書『Female Masculinity』（'98）（※女性の男らしさの意）では、男性の身体を持たない男性性というクィアな観点からジェンダーのあり方への考察を行う。その他、Del LaGrace Volcanoと共に写真エッセー集「THE DRAG KING BOOK」（'99）などを出版。

Profile: Judith Halberstam

Judith Halberstam, Professor of English and Gender Studies at the University of Southern California (USC), is known for her research in the fields of queer studies, transgender studies, and gender studies. Her book "Female Masculinity" is an exploration, guided through a queer perspective, into non-male masculinity and the making of gender. She also co-authored the photo/essay book, "The Drag King Book" (1999), with Del LaGrace Volcano.
