Adam Lambert will make his debut in Japan on March 10 with his first album, “For Your Entertainment”! His voice is a rare instrument, with the widest range than any other.
Adam first appeared on TV when he auditioned for the eight season of American Idol (2009), a popular American audition show. Both judges and audiences gave their highest praise for his amazing voice and performances. Post-American Idol, he came out as being gay in a Rolling Stone cover story interview and this became top news on Yahoo US. Ever since, his behaviour on and off stage has stirred up attention from the queer scene - like kissing a male musician while performing at American Music Awards, mimicking oral sex on stage and his personal relationship with Samantha Ronson.
Career wise, Adam was chosen as ‘The10 Most Fascinating People of 2009’. And he also sang the theme song “Miracle” for the hit film “2012”. His pursuit of stardom was just unstoppable! Finally, when he made his debut in the States with his album “For Your Entertainment” (2009/11/24), its sales instantly ranked Top 3!
★Controversy Amongst Gay Media
It seems that Adam cannot draw enough attention from the gay scene overseas. As a matter of fact, several gay media has been critical of him. Including an American gay magazine, OUT.
It was reviled that when OUT listed Adam for “Out 100 - Class of 2009” as one of “the most outstanding and inspiring men and women of the year”, Adam gave two conditions upon appearing on the cover. One, to include straight celebrities on the cover and two, that the interview should not include any questions related to sexuality.
On another occasion, Editor in Chief of OUT announced negative comments when Adam avoided talking about his sexuality in a cover story interview with a different male magazine. After all, Adam had projected his sexuality in promoting himself until then. Adam’s reply was: “I didn’t want to jump onto a gay magazine as my first thing, because I feel like that’s putting myself in a box and limiting myself. It was my desire to stay away from talking about certain political and civil rights issues because I’m not a politician. I’m an entertainer. That is not my area of expertise. Not every gay man is the same gay man.” But all this controversy doesn’t change the fact that gay media loves Adam and his talent. What are your thoughts?

The gay-friendly American TV drama Glee will be coming to Japan, in a move headed by FOX International Channels!
The first season, with a total of 22 episodes, officially starts with the broadcast of Episode 1 on February 7 at 11p.m.
In the US, the second season of Glee will be beginning shortly, once a casting search to fill three new roles has been completed. Auditions of professional and amateur actors between the ages of 16 and 26 will take place through February. In fact, the audition process will also be broadcast in a special episode airing prior to the Season 2 Premier. Who knows...some new queer characters may be born!
Highly rated by both critics and TV viewers, Glee also earned four nominations for the 67th Golden Globe Awards. Three of the nominations went to actors Matthew Morrison (for Best Performance by an Actor in a Comedy Or Musical Series), Lea Michele (for Best Performance by an Actress in a Comedy Or Musical Series), and Jane Lynch (for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Comedy Or Musical Series).

スタイリッシュ・レズビアンドラマ『Lの世界』シーズン1のエピソードにも登場した世界最大のレズビアンイベント「ダイナ2010」が開催決定！ （※08年より「ダイナショア・ウィークエンド」から「ダイナ」へ名称変更）。
パーム・スプリングズヒルトンホテル、ハイアットリージェンシー、およびパーム・スプリングズコンベンションセンターで3月31日から4月4日まで5日間行なわれる。
もともと91年に3人のレズビアンによって開始されたこのイベントだが、年を重ねるごとに規模と動員数が拡大し、今年でついに20周年記念を迎え、いままで以上にゴージャスなイベントになること請け合い！！

そのお祝いムード満点のフェスティバルを盛り上げるゲストはまだ明かされていないが、今年末～来年の頭に公表される予定。2009年のラインナップでは、『Lの世界』の人気キャストや同ドラマでアリス役を演じたレイシャ・ヘイリーやシェーン役キャサリン・メーニッヒ、クリエーター兼プロデューサーのアイリーン・チェイケン、エレクトロディーバのレディー・ガガやケイティ・ペリーなどの豪華メンバーが会場を沸かせたが、今年はさらにパワーアップする予感！

Sara Davis Buechner has loved Mozart since childhood. As a boy named David in Baltimore, Buechner admired Mozart's velvet jackets and frilly blouses and was beaten at school for wearing similar clothes. Buechner spent the next twenty years in the closet, focused building a brilliant career. She graduated from the music program at New York's Julliard School. In 1986, a bronze medal at the Tchaikovsky International Competition--the Olympics of classical music--made her reputation. But hiding her true female identity was taking its toll on Buechner's happiness.
Now, Sara Buechner is out and proud! She underwent gender reassignment surgery in 1998. It was liberating, but the conservative world of classical music was not ready for it.
“I had an agent who no longer seemed to find work for me. Students weren't eager to study with me,” Buechner told Tokyo Wrestling in the interview.
Fortunately, times have changed, and Buechner is once again a sought-after pianist. Her schedule is booked solid this spring with performances in the Asia and the U.S. A professor at the University of British Columbia (Vancouver) since 2003, Buechner is spending a sabbatical year in Japan. She has a second home in Osaka, hometown of her spouse, Kayoko, whom she married in Canada in 2005.
Tokyo Sinfonia's Maestro Robert Ryker says that Buechner's personal life is a non-issue:
“The only thing I'm interested in is her as an artist. She has played with some of the most famous orchestras in the world,” Ryker told TW.

Takashi Otsuka, part of the much-lauded radio program “Snakeman Show” (late 1970s-early 1980s), served as a trailblazer by communicating information on living affirmatively as a gay person, in a time when positive information was sorely lacking. He opened Tac’s Knot in Shinjuku in 1982 and, in the decades since, countless gay men and women have flocked to the bar for both atmosphere and advice. Otsuka edited the trilogy Gei no Okurimono, Gei no Omochabako, and Gei no Gakuen Tengoku (published by Takarajima-Sha) and wrote Nichome kara Uroko (published by Shoei-Sha). On Saturday January 30, The Ritsumeikan University Institute of Human Sciences and Research Center Ars Vivendi will host the latest installment in the Learning Through Cinema series, "People and Society Today: Series 4. Children and Hope" featuring a screening of the 2001 film, "Hush!" by out Japanese director Ryosuke Hashiguchi.
Following the film, there will be a discussion (in Japanese) between Hashiguchi and Professor Kazuya Kawaguchi, author of the Japanese book, Queer Studies (Iwanami Shoten).

1994年に、実際に起きた事件を題材にしている多くのレズビアンがフェイバリット映画として挙げるカルト映画『乙女の祈り』（原題：Heavenly Creatures）。同作品を手がけたピーター・ジャクソン監督は、脚本、製作もこなし、1994年のヴェネチア国際映画祭では銀獅子賞（監督賞）を見事受賞した。そんなジャクソン監督の渾身の最新作となるのは、アリス・シーボルトの大ベストセラー小説「ラブリー・ボーン」を基に映画化した感動のファンタジードラマ『ラブリーボーン』。
物語は、14歳の少女スーザンが、ある日何者かに殺されるという衝撃的な事件から幕を開ける。この事件をきっかけに家族は崩壊していくが、その様子をスーザンは天国から見守り、決して届かない声を家族や友人たちにかけ続けていた。そして、スーザンを失った悲しみからバラバラになってしまった家族は、少しずつ再生への道を辿っていく。
主演は、『つぐない』でキーラ・ナイトレイの妹役を演じ、13歳にしてオスカー候補となり一躍脚光を浴びたシアーシャ・ローナン。共演には、マーク・ウォールバーグ、レイチェル・ワイズのほか、レズビアン要素を含むカルト映画『ハンガー』('83)でカトリーヌ・ドヌーヴとラブシーンを演じたスーザン・サランドンなど実力派俳優たちが顔を揃え、若手演技派ナンバーワンとも称されるローナンを脇から支えている。
本作はレズビアン関連映画ではないが、永遠に14歳のままでありながら天国から大切な人たちを思い続ける少女の姿と、永遠に消えることのない少女と家族の絆に誰しもが胸を打たれるはず。見終わった後には、必ず何かしら心に訴えかけてくる本作を是非チェックしてみては！

LGBTのユースたちを国や地域を越えてつなぎあうために結成された「日英LGBTユース エクスチェンジ プロジェクト（YEP）」。そのYEPが、日々ひとりで悩んでいるLGBT（かもしれない）ユースたちのために、冊子「子どもと親と教員のためのLGBT入門ガイド」を活動の一環として作成。このガイドは、ユースたちが同じ悩みを分かち合い、世界中に仲間がいることに気づき、最初の小さな一歩を踏み出すチャンスを与えてくれる。
若者本人だけではなく、LGBTの子どもや若者を支援するために、親や教師の立場にある方にも読みやすく書かれているLGBTについての入門書なので、ユース本人はもちろんのこと、当事者を取り巻く家族や学校教員にもオススメ。
これまでに2500部ほどが、全国の男女共同参画センターや児童福祉に関するNPOなどに送付された実績を誇る。今回からウェブでもダウンロードできるようになったので、是非チェックを！

The Japan-UK LGBT Youth Exchange Project (YEP) was formed in 2007 to bring together LGBT youth from different countries and regions. This pioneering group just recently released a new Japanese language resource titled, “Kodomo to Oya to Kyoin no Tame no LGBT Nyumon Gaido” (“An Introductory LGBT Guide for Youth, Parents, and Educators”), to help struggling LGBT and questioning youth. The guide is designed to inspire young readers to take their first steps forward by helping them realize other youth around the world share and understand their troubles.
The book is not just for young readers. It also makes great introductory reading for parents, educators, and other individuals who wish to support the LGBT youth who are a part of their lives.
2,500 copies of the guide have already been distributed across Japan to gender equality centers and child welfare NGOs. And now this wonderful Japanese resource is available on the web!!
