Still quite young, the Aomori International LGBT Film Festival enters its 4th year this year. Each time around we like to add something new, so this year we will be holding our first special film screening outside of Aomori. The venue selected was Hirosaki University. We're really looking forward to this event and the fresh atmosphere we expect to find there since we've never hosted a screening at a university before!

There will be a "tea time" party for guests to share conversation about the films afterwards.

Festival staff is eagerly getting everything in order - we hope to see you in Hirosaki!

5月頃から世界中でゲイパレードやプライドイベントなどが開催されるなか、Tokyo Pride Festivalは今年5月23日(土)に開催予定。今回は、ＮＨＫ教育テレビ「ハートをつなごう」の公開録画も行われる予定で、さらに盛り上がること間違いなし。同番組でお馴染みの司会者ソニンや、石田衣良、ナレーションを担当するミュージシャンのオオヤユウスケも出演し、フィナーレでは映像を背景に音楽を演奏予定。

With the start of May, gay marches and other Pride events are beginning to pop up all over the world. In Japan, we'll be marking the season with the Tokyo Pride Festival, scheduled for Saturday May 23rd. There will be a live taping of the NHK Program Haato O Tsunago (Heart-to-Heart) in the afternoon - a unique addition sure to bring lots of excitement to the event! Programs hosts Sonin and Ira Ishida will be on hand as well as Haato O Tsunago's narrator, Japanese musician Yusuke Oya. As a finale, Oya will perform live against a video projection of the day's festivities.

国際反ホモフォビア・デイ 街頭アクション 5/17 May 17th Action for IDAHO Day

5月17日（日）は「IDAHO（アイダホ）」の日。

「国際反ホモフォビアの日（the International Day against Homophobia）」は、1990年5月17日に世界保健機関（WHO）が精神疾患リスト（DSM-Ⅲ）から同性愛を外したという由来からきている。 IDAHOは2004年8月にフランスの活動家によって立ち上げら以来、世界各国で様々なアクションが行われている。

国内でも2006年より開催され、外務省と法務省に署名の提出や、街頭キャンペーンなどが行われた。今年も、同日に開催。

Sunday May 17 is IDAHO Day!

The International Day Against Homophobia (IDAHO) is taken from May 17, 1990 -- the day that the World Health Organization (WHO) removed homosexuality from its list of mental disorders. Since the first IDAHO Day held by French activists in August 2004, actions commemorating the event have multiplied in countries around the world.

IDAHO Day was first celebrated in Japan in 2006 with street action and petitions submitted to the Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Justice. Similar events will be held again this year.
